We develop, manufacture and distribute tailor-made, high-performance miniature blowers for demanding air pressure, vacuum and flow applications worldwide.

Since 1968, we have been developing and producing high-performance fans and blowers as a Swiss family-owned company, which impress with their compactness and durability. Remarkable pioneering achievements, such as the development of the world’s smallest fan or the smallest high-pressure blowers, shape and strengthen our innovative strength time and again. Our powerful miniature blowers and fans are extremely reliable and are used for the most demanding applications in medical technology, industry and personal protection. Our products have a high power density, as well as maximum efficiency and long service life, thus offering energy-efficient and economical solutions in a wide range of applications.

Experience & Qualification

Our many years of proven engineering expertise make us the ideal partner for customer-specific solutions.

For the measurement of crucial parameters as well as for the simulation and testing of applications, we have in-house laboratories at our headquarters in Tagelswangen, Zurich. Air delivery volume, pressure, voltage and current are the key parameters for a new development. The operating point is determined on the basis of a constructed situation in the flow laboratory. In the acoustics laboratory, initial reference values, performance requirements and fan types can already be defined in the prototype phase. Experience from long-term test runs is incorporated into every design. Our engineering team is characterized by many years of experience as well as extensive know-how in vacuum and pressure technology.

Our Values

Our actions are based on six principles that encourage us to be successful in the long term.

Cooperation
We regard our employees as co-entrepreneurs - teamwork leads to joint success. We communicate openly and directly and maintain respectful manners. Our interpersonal, long-term relationships are based on mutual trust and good faith.

Customer Satisfaction
We focus on the needs of our customers and develop customized, individual solutions. Customers judge us on our problem-solving ability and response time. Our business conduct is always fair and profitable for both sides.

Competence
We achieve first-class product quality and process capability both through our know-how and by continuously developing and improving ourselves. We strive for state-of-the-art technology and business best practice.

Health & Occupational Safety
The protection of life and health is our lived duty. We are responsible for the health and well-being of our employees - and we live up to this responsibility.

Environment & Sustainability
Sustainability and energy efficiency are extremely important to us, not only in manufacturing, but also in the end product. By means of solar energy, we are able to cover a large part of our needs ourselves. We use our resources moderately and efficiently.

Compliance & Integrity
We consistently comply with all applicable regulations, in particular export control regulations. We reject fraud, money laundering, corruption and the use of our products in war materials. We respect fair trade and human rights along the entire value chain and maintain responsible corporate governance.

History

Since 1968 we have been in constant dialogue with the market and our customers. Today we have a lot of experience and competence.

2020

Expansion of Production and Office Space

With 80 employees at the beginning and 130 employees at the end of the year (enormous growth due to Covid), it is becoming increasingly crowded in the main building. More production and office space is urgently needed. The second building, which has been rented since 2019, is purchased.

2020

U65 for Medical Ventilation

Maintaining our market leadership requires innovation. With the U65 Form Fit line, Micronel covers the entire application spectrum, from sleep apnea to intensive care ventilation.

2019

Gaining a Foothold in the Industry

Increasing medical technology dominance demands counterweight. With the U100+ series, Micronel decides to position itself in the industrial market. ISO 14001 certification also creates a new standard for the environmental management system.

2015

Foundation of Micronel Germany

Until now developed with the strong distribution partner Bedek, the largest potential market in Europe also requires its own foothold. Two hours by car from Tagelswangen, Micronel Germany is opened.

2012

Oxygen-Resistant Blowers

The increasing success in the ventilator market is becoming a sales driver and calls for more products. Intensive care ventilation in particular requires oxygen-resistant and quiet-running blowers with high pressure output. The U65 single- and two-stage product families and the U71 series are launched.

2010

Foundation of Micronel USA

Even the largest economy with its enormous market potential needs its own sales presence close to the customer. Thus Micronel Safety USA LLC is founded.

2008

Foundation of Micronel UK

The market development of large growth markets increasingly requires own local presence. A sales organization is established as a subsidiary, together with the already known and reliable partner John Roe.

2004

Revolution in the Medical Industry

The foundation stone is laid for an incipient paradigm shift: Blower technology is used in medical ventilation for the first time. This pioneering achievement is the result of an intensive customer relationship with the U51 series. The beginning of a sustainable success story and market leadership

2000

Generation Change at Meiers

Peter Meier Senior steps down due to age and hands over the management mandate to his son Peter Meier Junior. In the same year, Peter Meier Jr. is elected to the Board of Directors. He then takes over the presidency of the BoD from his father 11 years later.

1996

ISO 9001 Certification

The markets and an increasing standardization of development, production processes and company management require a quality standard. Micronel becomes ISO-9001 certified.

1994

New Business Orientation

Structural change in the fan manufacturing sector demands a move away from the usual fan application, towards customer-specific solutions. New innovative strength is required. Development activities focus on the first 2-filter CASU C420 and the axial fan D801.

1992

Personal Protection Unit C420 PAPR

The growing blower expertise makes Micronel the ideal solution provider for respiratory protection with blower filter units. On behalf of the customer, Micronel develops and patents the C420 system with housing, blower, electronics and battery, which is still produced today.

1986

Another Lack of Space in Production

Micronel has grown into a medium-sized production company with meanwhile 40 employees. A customized and future-oriented building infrastructure is necessary. The new, current location at Zürcherstrasse 51 is occupied.

1982

The Smallest and World's First Flat Fan

The smallest and world's first flat fan F57 is developed and patented. The rapidly growing industrial markets and the technological progress require more and more compact fans. Thus Micronel manages to bring the fan with a size of 6 cm to the market.

1980

Fans in Focus

A new record turnover is achieved for fans as well as for reed relays. The Board of Directors decides to focus on the production of fans. However, the reed relays are to continue to be manufactured as long as possible.

1975

Moving out of the Garage

With meanwhile 11 employees, the production of 215.000 small string relays and about 11.000 miniventilators Micronel is getting bigger and bigger. So the newly acquired premises at Buckstrasse in Tagelswangen are moved into.

1973

Pioneer of Plug-in Mini Fans

For the first time, V360A and V368A plug-in mini fans were developed and marketed. Ideal for applications where quick interchangeability was desired.

1969

The World’s First Miniature Axial Fan V240

The commercialization of the transistor requires cooling solutions in a wide variety of power electronics applications. A key target market at this time is Japan. In addition, Micronel's first employee, Walter Hepp, is hired. He is retiring in 2013 after 45 years working at Micronel.

1968

Company Founded in the Garage

Peter Meier Senior was an electrical engineer and a gifted inventor with an entrepreneurial spirit. The prize money from a development competition won (crash helmet with visor) finances the founding of the company in Tagelswangen.

1967

Breakthrough With Counting Relay

Invention of the world's first counting relay and participation in the INEL (third international trade fair for industrial electronics) with great success. The brand name "micronel" with logo symbolizing the flow through a tube was created one year earlier.

1963

Construction of the Counting Relay

First ideas for the construction of a counting relay in cooperation with a partner company are developed.
