High Performance Blowers

For Industrial Air and Vacuum Applications

Efficiency, precision and reliability are key drivers in modern industrial production. From automated lines to individual process steps, air movement plays a critical role across a wide range of applications. Micronel blowers support these processes wherever controlled pressure, vacuum or airflow is required – from cleaning and drying to cooling, conveying or packaging.

Compared to traditional solutions such as side channel blowers or compressed air systems, decentralized blower solutions offer clear advantages: lower energy consumption, reduced space requirements and improved overall system efficiency. They enable targeted, point-of-use performance exactly where it is needed.

Micronel’s compact axial and radial blowers combine high pressure and strong airflow in a small footprint. Designed for demanding industrial environments, they deliver reliable performance, low noise levels and long service life. Typical applications include:

Air Knife Drying & Blow off

Like the well-known hand dryer, an air knife is used here for industrial purposes, typically in the food industry, to blow off water droplets. As a low-cost alternative to the central compressed air supply, the required compressed air is generated here in a decentralized, low-loss and needs-based manner. The use of our radial blowers can save up to 90% of energy costs. They are highly robust, powerful and efficient and therefore the ideal choice.

Vacuum Conveying & Holding

Vacuum technology is commonly used to secure goods on conveyor belts during transport and positioning. In these systems, a defined vacuum is generated to hold products in place reliably, even at higher speeds or in dynamic processes. Our robust and powerful industrial blowers offer an energy-efficient and cost-effective solution and can be installed decentralized as an alternative to vacuum generation from a central compressed air supply.

These applications are just a small selection of what is possible. Micronel blowers are used in a wide variety of processes, from air sampling and ventilation of all kinds to vapor suction and beyond.

Application Example

Successful Cooperation With Explosion Power

Around 255 million tons of waste are incinerated worldwide every year. Around 2,200 incineration plants reduce this waste to ash and slag while recovering the energy it contains. Some of this ash remains stuck in the incineration boilers, and cleaning them is a challenge.

Explosion Power has developed an online cleaning process that keeps the boiler areas in a permanently clean condition: the so-called Shock Pulse Generator. This shoots a combustion air mixture into the boilers at high pressure, thereby initiating a Shock Pulse. The vibrations triggered by the shock pulse gently clean the surfaces of ash.

Here, our U100HL blowers are used in combination with a cleaning filter to remove the gas residues. It is always impressive to see where our solutions are used. Thank you Explosion Power for the exciting and very pleasant cooperation! We are looking forward to further joint success stories.

Trade Fair Review

Micronel as an Exhibitor at Interpack

Interpack 2023 in Düsseldorf

Interpack is the world’s largest and most successful trade show for packaging innovations and processes. For the first time, we were there as an exhibitor. Our booth was located in the components suppliers hall within Interpack, which was specially signposted under the name Components.

The Interpack trade show was an absolutely enriching experience for us. Countless exciting conversations and potential solutions were discussed. We were able to expand our repertoire in the field of industrial applications or energy-efficient solutions with our blowers many times over. The interested parties could hardly be more different and international. We were very broadly and competently positioned with our sales team, our CEO Peter Meier and our specialists from the development department, and we were also able to keep up very well with the diversity of languages.

In the industrial environment, we are not yet as well known with our fans and blowers as we are in medical technology. We are therefore all the more pleased about the great interest that we have generated – also thanks to our demonstration blowers at the booth. Many visitors were amazed at how powerful our miniature blowers really are. Inquiries included applications in pick & place, cleaning and drying, spraying, cooling and ventilating, and much more. A very wide range for which our product portfolio is interesting. The diverse exchange in general is also very valuable because we can constantly reassess the market potential. These experiences flow into the further development of our product range.

Even from our point of view, the trade show was incredibly multifaceted. More than 17 halls were filled with innovations and solutions in the field of food & packaging, which could be visited during 7 days. Some booths took up almost entire halls. Interpack was therefore also characterized by insane impressions from the perspective of trade show visitors and certainly required several days to be able to see everything.

Company Anniversary

55 Years Micronel

On January 17, 2023, Micronel Celebrates Its 55th Anniversary

Peter Meier Senior, who is personally responsible for this anniversary, was a talented inventor as well as a successful entrepreneur. He was 32 years young when he won a development competition in 1968 with his invention “crash helmet with visor”. With the prize money, the electrical engineer cofinanced the founding of the company in Tagelswangen. And there, in a garage in Tagelswangen, the history of Micronel began.

World’s first miniature axial fan V240

Just one year after the company was founded, Micronel impressed the international market with the launch of the world’s first miniature axial fan V240. This was used for cooling power electronics. In the same year, Peter Meier Senior hired his first employee ever, Walter Hepp, who incidentally retired from Micronel 43 years later.

Removal from the garage

Peter Meier had the right instinct and successfully led the company through its first 15 years. The small diffuser relays and mini ventilators manufactured in Tagelswangen were in demand all over the world. And so the small company and its team continued to grow. Newly acquired premises in the town were moved into, as the garage was threatening to burst at the seams.

Invention of the world’s smallest flat fan

With the invention of the world’s smallest and first flat fan, the founder landed 1982 another coup that underpinned his innovative strength once again. The flat fan was 57x57mm and just 14 millimeters thin and was used in a device that was only six by six centimeters in size.

Fans and blowers in focus

Micronel grew into a medium-sized manufacturing company and moved to its current location at Zürcherstrasse 51 in the mid-1980’s. In quick succession, new innovations were created, such as fans for respiratory protection with blower filter units (PAPR – Powered Air Purifying Respirator) or numerous customer-specific solutions.

Revolution in the medical industry

Blowers were first used in medical ventilation in 2004. This was the foundation laid by Peter Meier Junior for the paradigm shift that began. This pioneering achievement came about in an intensive customer relationship with the U51 series. That was the beginning of a sustainable success story and market leadership, especially since today medical ventilation is the company’s sales driver.

Micronel today

For meanwhile 20 years, Peter Meier Junior, named after his father, has been running the company together with around 100 employees, three subsidiaries in the USA, UK and Germany, and more than a dozen sales partners worldwide. Micronel is one of the market leaders in terms of technology and has set new standards in many areas – all over the world.

The range of applications extends from medical ventilation (such as sleep apnea, intensive care ventilation or breathable full-body suits) to vacuum solutions in industry. The drying of beverage bottles and dental suction or various ventilation applications are also part of daily business. The use of Micronel blowers and fans could hardly be more different and versatile.

With our company name Micronel, we have always vouched for the smallest, longest-lasting, quietest and most dynamic fans. And so the story shall be continued in the spirit of the founder, by taking care of our quality products, but above all of our valued customers. Because we owe everything to them.

In the Endurance Test Laboratory

Fan Is Running Since 30 Years

Our F62 fan has been running for 30 years!

Some of our F62 test specimens have now completed over 52 billion revolutions in our endurance test lab at 45°C ambient temperature. When the test began in 1992 in the endurance test lab, we probably would not have expected that in 2022 some would still be functioning within specification. The first failures occurred after more than 100,000 hours. The average service life actually achieved is therefore around 170,000 hours.

We are incredibly proud of this, because as a Swiss manufacturer, excellent quality is our top priority. Both in the selection of materials and engineering, we strive for perfection.

The F62 fan is one of many tested in the endurance test laboratory. With a clear conscience, we can confirm our quality promise of 20,000 hours of operation time and time again.

In addition to the endurance tests, we also carry out so-called environmental tests. Extreme temperatures from -40°C to 120°C, exceptionally high humidity or increased oxygen concentration provoke accelerated aging. Our fans are exposed to corrosive environments and tested for their resistance.
